Even the best artist in the world need a little warm up. Now you can begin drawing, do it slowly and don’t be afraid to erase! Before you warm up properly, it can take even 10 tries to get the first eye done, but it’s normal. It makes it easier to get your drawing look the way you intend to. Step 3:įor digital artists: Set the first layer where you drew the guidelines on lower opacity, and select the second layer you created in step one.īefore you begin with the face sketch, try to imagine what shape every face part should be. You can also read our blog about face structures here.

You can watch this video right here to get a full detailed explanation on this topic. This method is easily adjustable, so you should not struggle too much. For example, make the jaw smaller, chin broader, eyes further apart or a bigger nose. Important: You need to adjust the structure of the guidelines if you want to draw a particular face. It’s important to follow the order correctly, to avoid disproportions. Step 2:įollow the video tutorial to sketch the guidelines. You need to create 2 layers, first one for the guidelines, and another for the sketch/lineart. This face drawing tutorial is made on Procreate, using iPad Pro 12.9 inch and an Apple Pencil. I made a quick video instruction that will make it easy for you to follow the tutorial and replay it as many times as you need, to memorize all the steps. If you are new to the App I really recommend downloading the Procreate guide and following the App on Instagram, where they demonstrate different tools and techniques. In this Tutorial I will show you how to draw face structure with a few easy steps. As with any program there are hundreds of different techniques and ways of doing things.

I discussed my initial experience of using the iPad, Apple Pencil and Procreate in an earlier blog post here. I’ve discussed my process before on my blog here, but I’ve added a more in-depth tutorial below, with a step-by-step guide covering the techniques I use, from the initial sketch, to drawing shapes, and adding texture. I shared some of the techniques I use for creating work using Procreate for the iPad, met some fab people and had a great time! I was also blown away by the work created (scroll down for some of my favourites!)Ī few people who couldn’t make the event messaged me to ask if it would be available online.

At the beginning of the year I hosted a live art session at the Apple Store on Regent Street as part of Today at Apple.
